Geoffrey Bartholomew Wildgrin Mallace, 1st Earl Spencer, KG, KB, PC, FRS, MP, was the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Deputy Secretary for the Southern Department, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Lieutenant General of the East India Trading Company Black Guard in the First Newcastle Ministry. His hard work was quickly recognized by the members of HM Cabinet, and he was seen as the best fit to take over command of the Black Guard.
